1995 DUCATI 900SS SUPERSPORT

1995 DUCATI 900SS SUPERSPORT

DUCATI 900SS Supersport first registered in October 1995, Racing red with bronze frame and 3 spoke alloy wheels, later 3 clock dash – speedo, tacho and temp, original UK bike with 20,000 miles from new. Last of the real Ducati family line. Recent cam belt service and 12 months MOT. Original Ducati Warranty and Maintenance book, Owner’s manual and tool kit along with original passenger seat hump. All MOTs from 3 years old, many invoices supporting the service history. Four owners from new. Start it up to make you smile.

The 1991 Ducati 900SS Supersports were produced with white chrome molybdenum steel frames and white wheels. The swingarms used needle bearings instead of bushings as in the past. Brakes from the Ducati 851 were used on the Supersport vastly improving braking performance. All new bodywork and a pivoting fuel tank were elegantly shaped. The revised Supersports were met with immediate success and became wildly popular. Even though the 1991 Supersport was extremely well developed, Ducati would continue to refine the bike over the years.

From 1991 to 1998, the model was called 900SS, and was available with a full (SS) or half fairing (SS/CR). 1992 saw the addition to the SS/SL (Superlight). In 1994, to further differentiate the 900 from smaller Supersports, more models were released in addition to the Superlight. The 900 SS/SP (Sport Production) was offered to the North American market only. This model had carbon fiber fenders and clutch cover, sound damping material, adjustable Showa suspension, and an aluminum swingarm. The Superlight had the same options as the SS SP but with a single seat and upswept mufflers. The CR’s came with a non adjustable suspension, a steel swingarm, and a narrower 4.5-inch rear wheel and 160 section rear tire. Many riders feel the aluminum swingarms are more desirable.

In 1997, as Supersport sales were declining due to the popularity of the Ducati Monster and Ducati Superbike lines, Ducati attempted to keep the model alive with a few final changes. Yellow was added as a color option, an additional air intake was added as well as new, bolder graphics; namely the “Ducati” emblazoned across the entire side of the Supersport body panel.

In 1998, only 200 red and 200 yellow SS/CR’s were imported to the United States. They featured the last of the Cagiva graphics and elephant but had 1998 spec. motors with new pistons, cylinders and lower mounted oil cooler. A final series Supersport the SS/FE (Final Edition) was also available in 98, but featured the new Pacific graphics, came only in silver with black wheels, had the single seat and upswept exhausts of the Superlight and represented the last carburated Supersport.

The value of a good Ducati 900SS Supersport has been steadily growing in recent years. This is mainly because the bikes are very good – they handle well, have plenty enough performance and character, but moreover, they are a Ducati and Ducati have the same draw in the motorcycle world as Ferrari in the sports car world. If you have a Ducati in your garage, it has a lot of credibility and it’s a bike you will enjoy owning. Now that the best original mid 70’s Ducati 900 Supersports are being sold for £80,000, these 1990s Ducati Supersports appear to be remarkable value for money. My advice : Buy one now, because in a few year’s time, they won’t be this price.

The Lagonda brand was founded in 1906 by Wilbur Gunn. Lagonda won the famous  Le Mans 24h race with a Lagonda M45R driven by John Stuart and Luis Fontez. The Lagonda Rapide V-12 1939 was the most expensive car in the United States at the time of its launch. The company however filed for bankruptcy soon after, and was bought by Alan Good, who outbid Rolls Royce for the company. In 1947 Lagonda was bought by David Brown, who had also bought Aston Martin. The brand came back in 1976 with the William Towns designed angular Aston Martin Lagonda, which was released as an Aston Martin car. However the model was discontinued in early 1990, effectively ending the Lagonda brand name at the same time.

Aston Martin decided to revive the Lagonda brand in 2009, to expand outside its traditional sporting realm into untapped segments such as luxury saloons and celebrate Lagonda’s centennial anniversary. “The ASTON MARTIN Lagonda brand would allow AML to develop cars which would have a different character than a total sports car,” said CEO Ulrich Bez in a statement. “Lagonda will have its own niche with luxurious and truly versatile products suitable for both existing and emerging markets”.

The Aston Martin Lagonda Taraf project was undertaken by Aston Martin’s Q division which specialises in commissioning bespoke cars and customising existing models to  specifications. The final full-size model was completed in 8 months of the first studio sketches in January 2014. Marek Reichman attributed the swift execution to lessons learnt from the production of the Aston Martin One – 77, which took two years.

The TARAF is intended as a homage to the Aston Martin Lagonda, which was produced between 1976 and 1990. A total of 645 of those cars were produced, each of which took 2200 man hours to build.

Specifications

The Aston Martin Lagonda Taraf is powered by a 48-valve, 6-litre V12 producing 540HP and 465 lb-ft of torque. It has a maximum limited speed of 195 miles per hour (314 km/h).

Production

Top Gear reported that the Aston Martin Lagonda Taraf was undergoing hot weather testing in Oman in September 2014. The car was put through 14,000 miles (23,000 km) of testing in four weeks in temperatures ranging between 30–50 C. The car was subsequently unveiled in the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.

The car began production in 2016, with the company saying that only 200 cars will be made. The Taraf is produced in Aston Martin’s plant in Gaydon, Warwickshire. When Andy Palmer took over as the CEO, he had the car’s potential markets widened to include Europe, USA, Singapore and South Africa. He also had the number of cars to be produced increased to 200.  The car is the most expensive four-door saloon in the world as of April 2017.

The body panels are made of carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP), which then receives a seven-layer paint job besides polishing and elbow grease. The car made a run at the 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The production will end by December 2018, with 150 cars expected to have been sold by then.

The Ferrari F50 is a mid engine range topping supercar made by Ferrari. The Ferrari F50 was introduced in 1995. The car is a two-door, two seat roadster with a removable hardtop. It has a 4.7 L naturally aspirated 60 valve V12 engine that was developed from the 3.5 L V12 used in the 1990 Ferrari 641 F1 Formula One car.

Only 349 cars were made. The last F50 was produced in Maranello, Italy, in July 1997 although there were a further six cars built for the Sultan of Brunei  after the 349 making the total production 355.  This car was first registered in Italy in July 1997.

The F50’s engine predated the car; it was used in the Ferrari 333SP for the American IMSA series in 1994, allowing it to become eligible for the stock engine WSC category – World Sportscar Championship.

FERRARI F40 Cat Non Adjust 1991

Ferrari F40, 1991, Cat, Non Adjust, 8,200 miles, one owner from new, Rosso Corsa with red cloth seats, manual wind up windows, Ferrari Classiche Certificate. Exceptional car in exceptional condition. All documents and manuals with Ferrari service history. tools, EU tax paid.

As early as 1984, the Maranello factory had begun development of an evolution model of the 288 GTO intended to compete against the Porsche 959 in FIA Group B. However, when the FIA brought an end to the Group B category for the 1986 season, Enzo Ferrari was left with five 288GTO Evos development cars, and no series in which to campaign them. Enzo’s desire to leave a legacy in his final supercar allowed the Evoluzione program to be further developed to produce a car exclusively for road use. In response to the quite simple, but very expensive car with relatively little out of the ordinary being called a “cynical money-making exercise” aimed at speculators, a figure from the Ferrari marketing department was quoted as saying “We wanted it to be very fast, sporting in the extreme and Spartan,” “Customers had been saying our cars were becoming too plush and comfortable.” “The Ferrari F40 is for the most enthusiastic of our owners who want nothing but sheer performance. It isn’t a laboratory for the future, as the 959 is. It is not Star Wars. And it wasn’t created because Porsche built the 959. It would have happened anyway.”

The Ferrari F40 body was designed by Leonardo Fioravantiand Pietro Carmadellaof studio Pininfarina, under the guidance of Nicola Materazzi, the engineer who designed engine, gearbox and other mechanical parts of the car and had previously designed the bodywork of the 288 GTO Evoluzione, from which the F40 takes many stylistic features.

Drivetrain and suspension

Power came from an enlarged, 2.9L (2936 cc) version of the GTO’s IHI Twin turbos developing a 478 bhp, according to Ferrari. Most experts today agree the number was well over 500 bhp. The Ferrari F40 did without a cat until 1990 when US regulations made them a requirement for emissions control reasons. The flanking exhausts guide exhaust gases from each bank of cylinders while the central pipe guides gases released from the wastegate of the turbos. Engines with catalytic converters bear F120D code.

The suspension setup was similar to the GTO’s double wishbone setup, though many parts were upgraded and settings were changed; the unusually low ground clearance prompted Ferrari to include the ability to raise the vehicle’s ground clearance when necessary.

Body and interior

Ferrari F40

The body was an entirely new design by Pininfarina featuring panels made of Kevlar, carbon fibre, and aluminium for strength and low weight, and intense aerodynamic testing was employed. Weight was further minimized through the use of a plastic windshield and windows. The cars did have air conditioning, but had no sound system, door handles, glove box, leather trim, carpets, or door panels. The first 50 cars produced had sliding Lexan windows, while later cars were fitted with wind down windows.

Aerodynamics

The Ferrari F40 was designed with aerodynamics in mind. For speed the car relied more on its shape than its power. Frontal area was reduced, and airflow greatly smoothed, but stability rather than terminal velocity was a primary concern. So too was cooling as the forced induction engine generated a great deal of heat. In consequence, the car was somewhat like an open-wheel racing car with a body. It had a partial undertray to smooth airflow beneath the radiator, front section, and the cabin, and a second one with diffusers  behind the motor, but the engine bay was not sealed. Nonetheless, the Ferrari F40 had an impressively low drag coefficient of 0.34 with lift controlled by its spoilers and wing.

This is an opportunity to buy a simple mechanical iconic supercar in the right specification – don’t miss it.

Specifications

LaFerrari is the first mild hybrid from Ferrari, providing the highest power output of any Ferrari whilst decreasing fuel consumption by 40 percent. LaFerrari’s internal combustion engine is a mid-rear mounted Ferrari F140 65° V12 with a 6.3-litre (6262 cc) capacity producing 800 ps (588 kW, 789 bhp) @ 9000 rpm and 700 N·m (520 lbf·ft) of torque @ 6,750 rpm, supplemented by a 163 PS (120 kW; 161 bhp) KERS unit (called HY-KERS), which will provide short bursts of extra power. The KERS system adds extra power to the combustion engine’s output level for a total of 963 PS (708 kW; 950 bhp) and a combined torque of 900 N·m (664 lb·ft). Ferrari claims CO2 emissions of 330 g/km. The engine’s bore and stroke is 94×75.2 mm with a compression ratio of 13.5:1 and a specific power output of 94 kW (128 PS) per litre. It is connected to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and the car is rear wheel drive.

Equipment

The car is equipped with carbon-ceramic Brembo discs on the front (398 mm) and rear (380 mm), with the car sitting on Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires measuring 265/30 R 19 and 345/30 R 20 respectively.

Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta uses a carbon fibre monocoque structure developed by Ferrari’s F1 technical director Rory Byrne, with a claimed 27 percent more torsional rigidity and 22 percent more beam stiffness than the Enzo. It has a double wishbone suspension in the front and a multi link suspension in the rear.[2]

LaFerrari has a number of electronic controls including ESC, high performance ABS/EBD (anti-lock braking system/electronic brake distribution), EF1-Trac F1 electronic traction control integrated with the hybrid system, E-Diff 3 third generation electronic differential, SCM-E Frs magnetorheological damping with twin solenoids (Al-Ni tube), and active aerodynamics to enable maximum performance.

Performance

Ferrari states that the Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta has a top speed exceeding 217 mph (349 km/h), similar to the Enzo’s top speed, however, it is capable of reaching 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 3 seconds, 200 km/h (124 mph) in under seven seconds, and a speed of 300 km/h (186 mph) in 15 seconds.Ferrari also claims that the car has lapped its Fiorano test circuit in 1:19.70 which is faster than any other road-legal car Ferrari has ever produced.

PORSCHE 924 CARRERA GT HOMOLOGATION SPECIAL

Porsche 924 Carrera GT Homologation special

1980 Porsche 924 Carrera GT – not for sale, but here to bring to your attention. This is 1 of only 406 cars produced between 1980 and 1981 for homologation. There were only 75 right hand drive cars built within the 406 total and of the 406 made, there were 100 race cars so by any standard, these were rare cars.

Right now, these cars represent extraordinary value for money, so now is the time to buy, because the Porsche 924 Carrera GT is a tremendous car with huge capability and proper race history. They are fast even by today’s standards with 210bhp, a 150mph top speed and 6.5 secs 0-60 mph so no slouch. Dare I say it, but they handle better than a 911 and there’s room in the back for two small people. If you show up at a motorsport meeting in one of these, it is instant respect.

Just watch the following link and listen to what Derek Bell has to say about the car. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRcUHsccXhY

If you want one of these cars, jump in to the driving seat now, select the dog leg first, press the loud pedal and enjoy..

After a successful sales run of both naturally aspirated and turbo models in 1980, Porsche unexpectedly released the Porsche 924 Carrera GT, making clear their intention to enter the 924 in competition. By adding an intercooler, increasing compression to 8.5:1 as well as various other little changes, Porsche was able to develop the 924 Turbo into the race car they had wanted, dubbing it the ” Porsche 924 Carrera GT”.

Visually it differed to the 931 in that it had polyurethane plastic front and rear flared guards, a polyurethane plastic front spoiler, a top mounted air scoop for the intercooler, a much larger rubber rear spoiler and a flush mounted front windscreen. It lost the 931’s NACA duct in the hood but retained the air intakes in the badge panel. This more aggressive styling was later used as motivation for the 944.

In order to comply with the homologation regulations, the 924 Carrera GT and later 924 Carrera GTS were offered as road cars as well, producing 210 and 245 hp (157 and 183 kW) respectively. Clubsport versions of the GTS were also available with 280 hp (209 kW; 284 PS), and factory included Matter rollcage and race seats. 924 Carrera GT variations were known by model numbers 937 (left hand drive) and 938 (right hand drive).

The ultimate development of the 924 in its race trim was the 924 Carrera GTR race car, which produced 375 horsepower (280 kW; 380 PS) from a highly modified version of the 2.0 L I4 used in all 924s. In 1980 Porsche entered three 924 GTRs at the 24hrs of Le Mans, which went on to finish 6th, 12th and 13th overall. Also building a 924GTR rally race car, and two other GTRs (Miller and BF Goodrich).

McLaren P1 GTR road version left hand drive

McLaren P1 GTR Road version – black car now sold, but we do have a new, delivery km, pearlescent white car coming. Please call for details – +44 7785 355 378.

2016 McLaren P1 GTR Road version. UK registered with delivery mileage only. Metallic black with full polished carbon interior. Comes with full race pack and spare set of wheels.

Celebrating 20 years since their victory in the 1995 24h Le Mans win, McLaren announced that they would resurrect the GTR name by launching a track-only version of the P1, the P1 GTR.

The P1 GTR was made available to the 375 P1 owners only, and the production was limited to 35 units. The concept car made its debut at the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in August 2014. The P1 GTR production model was officially unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show The GTR variant is priced at GB£1.9 million. This price includes a worldwide owners trackday series; later P1 GTRs were offered for less money, approximately $1.7 million, for those P1 owners who had no interest in the track series but still wanted to purchase the GTR variant.

McLaren states that this is the most powerful McLaren to date, with an intended power output of 987 bhp (1,000 PS, 735 kW). The car will also feature slick tyres, and have greater levels of performance, grip, aerodynamics and downforce in comparison to the road car. Featuring a new fixed ride height on race-prepared suspension, a fixed rear wing capable of using DRS, and a new exclusively designed exhaust, McLaren aims to deliver the ultimate track experience.

This limited edition went in to production in 2015, after all 375 standard P1’s were built, as homage to its race-winning ancestor, the iconic F1 GTR.

The P1 GTR hybrid engine aims at producing 1,000 PS (987 bhp); 84 bhp over the current model, although McLaren did not disclose whether the power increase is from electrical boost or tuning the twin turbo 3.8-litre V8. Performance figures are unconfirmed. P1 GTR weight was reduced by 50 kg and deliver power-to-weight ratio of 687 bhp per tonne.

The P1 GTR can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 2.4 seconds, with the top speed at 225 mph (362 km/h), brake from 60 mph to 0 in 85 ft, and corners at 1.54 G.
